Maintenance planning and gap analysis dashboard

The situation

Planning maintenance against measurement data is a matching problem with two sides. On one side, the measurement system says where work is needed and how much. On the other, the schedule says when access to each location is actually available. Doing this by hand means the plan reflects whichever locations the planner looked at, and the backlog (the work that has no window at all) stays invisible until it becomes urgent.

What we built

A browser-based planning dashboard.

• Measurement data and the work-window schedule load in together.
• The tool plans the scope for each window automatically.
• Critically, it names what it cannot schedule: backlog locations, backlog quantities, and locations with no upcoming window covering them.

That last part is the difference between a plan and a decision. Knowing what is not covered is what lets a manager argue for more access, or accept the risk deliberately.

The result

Scope planning moved from a manual exercise to a generated one, and the backlog became a number on a screen rather than an accumulating surprise. It has been rolled out within the team.
